The Directorate of Student Affairs (DoSA), Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, successfully organized a comprehensive training programme for Hall and Hostel Assistants on Wednesday, 29th April 2026, at the Independence Hall.
The programme commenced with opening remarks delivered by the Director of DoSA who emphasized the critical role Hall and Hostel Assistants play in maintaining discipline, ensuring student welfare, and supporting effective residential life on campus.

The training brought together assistants from various halls and hostels to equip them with the knowledge and skills required to effectively manage student accommodation and enhance residential life on campus.
The programme featured a well-structured line-up of activities, including a welcome address, sessions on administrative protocols, conflict management, customer service, student engagement, and safety systems within halls and hostels.
The programme featured a series of insightful sessions delivered by experienced facilitators. Prof. (Mrs.) Linda Aurelia Ofori opened the technical sessions with a presentation on effective residential administration, emphasizing clear protocols and consistent policy implementation.


Prof. Akwasi Acheampong Aning followed with a session on conflict management and discipline, highlighting practical approaches to maintaining harmony within student housing.

Dr. Martin Owusu Ansah addressed participants on customer service and student engagement, encouraging assistants to build positive relationships and improve communication with students.
Lt. Col. Richard Cobba-Eshun delivered a session on security and safety systems, stressing the importance of proactive measures in ensuring student wellbeing within halls and hostels.The final session, led by Dr. Elizabeth A. Sarfo Fordjour, focused on identifying students in distress and effective referral strategies, equipping participants with the skills to support vulnerable students.


The training also included interactive question-and-answer sessions, allowing participants to engage with facilitators and deepen their understanding of the topics discussed.
The programme concluded with closing remarks delivered by the Deputy Director of DoSA who expressed appreciation to the facilitators and participants, and encouraged assistants to apply the knowledge gained in improving student accommodation and welfare.
This initiative reflects DoSA’s continued commitment to improving student accommodation services and ensuring that hall and hostel environments remain safe, supportive, and conducive to academic success.
