1. THE DIRECTORATE OF STUDENT AFFAIRS EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
The Executive Committee attends to emergency situations while monitoring the overall performance of DoSA to ensure it meets its goals and objectives, and actively participate in the development and implementation of the organization's strategic plan.
2. DOSA MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE
The DoSA Management Committee is charged with the day-to-day leadership, management and administration of the Directorate.
The DoSA Management Committee is responsible for drawing up the academic year's calendar of activities, reviewing budgets for Sections, Centres, Departments, and collaborating offices, addressing emergency issues and reporting to the DoSA Board, establishing committees for effective management with Board approval, and making administrative decisions subject to Board ratification when necessary.
3. Quality Assurance Sub-Committee
The Committee is responsible for establishing and implementing Quality Assurance Systems in line with KNUST’s Quality Assurance Policy, monitoring the Directorate’s Strategic Plan implementation, advocating and educating staff and students on student-centered policies, collaborating with QAPO to conduct Client Satisfaction Surveys and Student Evaluation of Teaching, supporting Halls of Residence in Environmental Ranking and improvement, auditing and updating the Directorate’s websites and social media platforms, submitting situational reports on Quality Assurance to the Director of Student Affairs and the Vice-Chancellor through QAPO, and performing any other assigned roles.
4. Procurement Committee
The Committee is responsible for ensuring that quotations are sought in accordance with the KNUST Procurement Policy and the Public Procurement Act, 2003 (Act 663) as amended, supervising the opening of tenders, evaluating tenders, making recommendations for contract awards by the Director of Student Affairs or their representative, and performing any other assigned duties by the Director of Student Affairs or the Director of Procurement.
5. Visibility Committee
The Visibility Committee is responsible for developing a visibility blueprint to support the Directorate of Student Affairs in alignment with the University's visibility and branding policy, designing internal communication strategies for DoSA, collaborating with the URO and student bloggers to enhance the visibility of the Directorate’s activities, submitting bi-monthly situational reports, managing the Directorate’s website, and performing any other relevant or assigned duties by the Director or their representative.
6. Online Freshers Orientation Committee
The Online Orientation Committee is responsible for developing informative and educational content to guide freshmen on university life, liaising with relevant units to gather accurate data, collaborating with the University Relations Office and student bloggers to maximize the reach of orientation videos, publishing the orientation guide at least four weeks before freshmen arrive for the Vice-Chancellor’s input, and performing any other duties assigned by the Director.
7. Disability Desk Committee
The Disability Desk Committee is responsible for developing implementation strategies based on the Disability Policy and Inclusion and Diversity Policies to support students with disabilities, liaising with the University's Committee on Disability and the Students with Disability Association (SWDA) to organize educative programs, accessing and utilizing the PWDs database in collaboration with relevant offices for the Directorate’s purposes, supporting advocacy efforts to raise awareness about necessary support systems for PWDs, ensuring the database informs planning activities such as timetabling, housing arrangements, and examination needs, and performing any other duties assigned by the Director.
8. International Desk Committee
The International Desk Committee is responsible for developing a blueprint for managing international students, creating a system to track and support them while utilizing the data for decision-making, implementing special programs in collaboration with relevant university offices, designing support systems for international students, establishing a cultural integration framework with key stakeholders, and performing any other duties assigned by the Director.
9. Chronic Disease Committee
The Chronic Disease Committee is responsible for identifying students with chronic diseases and creating a database for them, developing a healthcare support system that includes disease management, psychological, and emotional support based on health records and family support, establishing a residential support mechanism for both on and off-campus accommodation with a peer support system, engaging experts to design educational programs for affected students, facilitating the creation and coordination of Special Associations for Students with Special Medical Conditions (SSMC), and performing any other necessary duties in consultation with the Director of Student Affairs and the Director of University Health Services.
10. RESIDENCE COMMITTEE
The Committee is responsible for regularly reviewing the Hall System, making regulations to ensure its proper functioning subject to Academic Board approval, providing supervision and welfare support for students with Academic Board approval, and liaising with private hostel operators to maintain adequate standards in hostels.
