Food bank

The Food Bank initiative is a programme spearheaded by DoSA to provide assistance to students facing food insecurity. It involves the collection of food products obtained through solicitations from various organizations to replenish the food banks.

Procedure to qualify for food bank are as follows:

Counselor/Tutor Consultation:

To initiate the process, a student in need is required to schedule a meeting with a counselor or tutor. During this consultation, the student’s circumstances are assessed.

Official Request to DoSA:

Following the assessment, if the student is identified as in need, an official request is submitted to the Directorate of Student Affairs (DoSA). This request includes relevant details about the student’s situation and the nature of assistance required.

Assessment by DoSA:

DoSA conducts an assessment based on the official request. This evaluation considers the availability of food products in the banks and the urgency of the student’s need.

Distribution of Food Products:

Upon successful assessment and depending on the availability of food products in the bank, the approved students receive distributions. This ensures that assistance is provided to those who qualify based on their assessed needs.

“The Food Bank initiative is conducted bi-monthly. This regular schedule ensures that the food banks are consistently restocked and available to support students in need. The Directorate of Student Affairs (DoSA) encourages individuals and institutions/companies to donate generously to the food /clothing bank."
