7. Brief Description/Profile

The purpose of the KNUST Photonics Student Chapter is to connect students interested in optics and photonics to a global network of scientists and engineers and prepare them for successful and diverse careers in these fields.

8. Vision/Mission

This student chapter aims to promote growth and awareness in the fields of optics and photonics by sharing knowledge and educating students to prepare them for career, research, and networking opportunities in the industries of optics and photonics.

9. Objectives/Aims

  • Engage in lifelong research and exploration conducted in and out of the university campus.
  • Build strong networking skills with other research students and professionals worldwide to support student growth in the field of photonics.
  • Explore a variety of career opportunities in optics and photonics through online resources as well as in-person activities.

11. Membership Requirements/Eligibility

  • Members must have good standing with Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
  • Membership is also extended to teaching assistants and postgraduate students in good standing with KNUST.
  • Eligible members must express genuine interest in the fields of optics and photonics.

12. Meeting Schedule

Meetings are held three times at the beginning of the semester and two times at the end of the semester, as well as when necessary for outreach activities and programs.
